Why it matters
Clinicians sometimes use the proportion, not just the raw pair, when reading PCOS-pattern or pituitary questions. Cycle day still dominates the interpretation.
When it reads low
A lower ratio usually means FSH is the louder of the two signals. That can be a normal follicular pattern or a rising-FSH ovarian picture.
When it reads high
A higher ratio means LH is relatively louder. It is a prompt to look at androgens, cycle history, and the raw LH and FSH — not a diagnosis.
